Uploading an Experiment

Create an account or sign in
Click + Upload in the navigation bar
Fill in the experiment title, abstract, category, and license
Attach your data file (CSV, XLSX, JSON, ZIP — max 150 MB)
Optionally attach an analysis notebook (.ipynb)
Submit — your experiment will appear immediately

Sample Records

Each experiment can have a structured sample table. Columns are grouped as Sample characteristics (descriptive fields) or Sample data (numeric measurements). Samples can be added manually, imported via CSV, or browsed globally across all experiments from the Samples tab.

Column Names

Column names define the fields in the sample table. Use clear, descriptive names so that samples are interpretable across experiments.

FormatTitle case preferred (e.g. Substrate Type, Tensile Strength)

UnitsInclude units seperate from title using the + Units option

Column Groups

Every column belongs to one of two groups, which controls where it appears in the sample table.

CharacteristicsGroup 1: Descriptive / categorical fields (species, treatment, etc.)

DataGroup 2: Numeric measurements (strength, thermal conductivity, etc.)

Auto-detectionCSV import assigns columns to groups based on number and text values

Popular Columns

There are some columns that will be present in more experiments than others (i.e. species, substrate). These columns are a high priority for filtering and thus must be the same across all experiments that use them. To maximize the quality of your data, it is suggested to check if a specific column name already exists and mirror the data format that others have used for that column. To make this process easier, column name suggestions will appear when creating a new column and editing column names. A few of the most popular columns are listed below.

Species: The fungal species of your sample. Please use the full naming convention of Genus-Species (i.e. Ganoderma lucidum or Pleurotus ostreatus)
Bulk Substrate: What you grew your sample on (Wood Pellets, Potato Dextrose Agar, Wheat)
Minor Substrate: Secondary substrate component. (i.e. if 15% of your substrate was grain)
Additives: Low amount components of your substrate (i.e. if 1% Calcium Carbonate was added)
Treatment: Post-processing your sample underwent (foamed, compressed, etc.)
Coating: Any coating you added to your sample (shellac, beeswax, etc.)
